A Bernese Mountain Dog will try to sit in your lap well past the point where that is physically possible, and look wounded when you suggest otherwise. Owners of this big, gentle Swiss breed accept hair on everything and a dog leaning on their knees as part of the deal. Wood Chimps makes personalised gifts for Bernese owners. We laser cut and engrave clocks, lead holders, keyrings and signs in our UK workshop, each one with your dog's name and a Bernese silhouette.
About the Bernese Mountain Dog
The Bernese Mountain Dog is a large working breed from the Swiss farms around Bern, usually 35 to 55kg, with a long, silky tricolour coat of black, white and rust, including the white blaze and chest and rust eyebrows that give them that kind, slightly worried expression. They were bred to pull carts and drive cattle, so they are strong and steady rather than fast. In temperament they are calm, affectionate and good natured, often shy with strangers but devoted at home. Owners notice the slow lean, the paw on the arm asking for attention and the way a Bernese ignores the weather entirely. Many owners call them Berners, and most keep a spare brush in every room.
Personalised gifts for your Bernese Mountain Dog
Our Personalised Dog Clock, 200 x 220mm, is laser cut with a Bernese Mountain Dog silhouette and your dog's name, £15. The Personalised Dog Lead Holder, from £6, has its own Bernese page: a 12 x 21cm light grey painted fibre board with two black hooks for lead and poo bags, your dog's name engraved and a fill-in walkies time clock. The Personalised Dog Breed Keyring at £2.50 is a 58 x 32mm wooden block etched with the breed and name. The Personalised Dog Rules for Visitors Sign at £7 and the Best Seat in the House Sign at £5 both show the Bernese and the name. Questions
How is the name added to the Bernese gifts?
Type your dog's name at checkout and tell us the breed. We laser cut or engrave the name onto the item alongside the Bernese Mountain Dog silhouette, and the personalisation is included in the price.
Which products do you make for a Bernese Mountain Dog?
All of them. The clock, the lead holder, the keyring, the Dog Rules for Visitors sign and the Best Seat in the House sign all come in Bernese, with your dog's name. The lead holder has its own Bernese page.
Will the silhouette show the tricolour markings?
The silhouette is a single colour breed outline rather than a painted portrait, so it shows the Bernese shape and coat rather than the black, white and rust. The name is what makes it your dog's.
