About the English Bulldog
The English Bulldog is a medium sized, heavy set dog, around 31 to 40cm tall but 18 to 25kg of it, with a short, smooth coat in brindle, fawn, red, white or piebald. The wide head, pushed in nose, loose jowls and rolling gait are instantly recognisable. They are calm, dignified and very attached to their family, and they tend to be gentle with children. They are also stubborn: a Bulldog that has decided the walk is over will sit down and stay there. Owners joke about the snoring, the wind and the way the dog takes up the whole sofa sideways. Called 'Bullies' or 'Bulldogs', they are couch companions with a big soft heart and a very firm sense of what they will and will not do.
