About the Golden Retriever
Golden Retrievers are large, around 25 to 34 kilos, with a dense water-resistant coat that runs from pale cream to deep gold and comes out in handfuls twice a year and in tufts the rest of the time. The face is kind and the mouth is always soft, which is why they carry things so gently. Goldens are patient, sociable and slow to anger, and they tend to greet strangers as if expecting a biscuit. They love water and will find it. Owners joke that a Golden has never met a person it did not like and never met a stick it did not need. The breed is often called a Golden or a Goldie, and they keep a puppy's enthusiasm long after the muzzle has gone white.
