Great Dane owners spend a lot of time explaining that no, the dog is not a horse, and yes, it does sleep on the bed. The gentle giant of the dog world takes up a surprising amount of room for a breed so softly spoken. Wood Chimps makes personalised gifts for Great Dane owners. In our UK workshop we laser cut and engrave clocks, lead holders, keyrings and signs, each with your dog's name and a Great Dane silhouette.
About the Great Dane
The Great Dane is one of the tallest breeds, often 70 to 90cm at the shoulder and 50 to 80kg, with a short smooth coat in fawn, brindle, blue, black, harlequin or mantle. Despite the size they are gentle, patient and a bit soppy, happiest draped across a person or peering over the kitchen counter at nose height. Owners notice the tail that clears coffee tables, the head that rests on the dining table unasked and the way a Dane leans its full weight against your legs. They are known as the Apollo of dogs, though most owners just say the big lad or the horse. Puppies are leggy and clumsy, and the clumsy stage can last a while.
Personalised gifts for your Great Dane
The Personalised Dog Clock is laser cut at 200 x 220mm with a Great Dane silhouette and your dog's name, £15, well above tail height. The Personalised Dog Lead Holder, from £6, is a 12 x 21cm light grey painted board with two black hooks for the lead and poo bags, your dog's name engraved and a fill-in walkies time clock. It is available in your breed, just tell us. The Personalised Dog Breed Keyring at £2.50 is a 58 x 32mm wooden block etched with breed and name. The Dog Rules for Visitors Sign and Best Seat in the House Sign carry the Dane and the name. For a Dane who has gone, we make a Pet Memorial Plaque and a Memorial Lantern.

Questions
How do I get my Great Dane's name on the gift?
At checkout, enter your dog's name and tell us the breed. We laser cut or engrave the name alongside the Great Dane silhouette, and the personalisation is included in the price you see.
Which products come in Great Dane?
The clock, keyring, Dog Rules for Visitors sign and Best Seat in the House sign all have a Great Dane silhouette with your dog's name. The lead holder can be made in your breed too, just tell us when you order.
Do you have a harlequin Great Dane silhouette?
The silhouette is a solid breed outline, so it shows the Great Dane shape rather than the coat pattern. Harlequin, fawn or blue, the outline is the same, and the name makes it yours. Ask at checkout if you want to check.
