About the Hungarian Vizsla
The Hungarian Vizsla is a medium to large gundog with a short, smooth coat in a single rich russet gold colour, matched by an amber-brown nose and eyes that give the whole dog a look of being carved from one piece of wood. They are lean and muscular, bred to hunt, point and retrieve, and they need a proper amount of exercise every day. At home they are gentle, sensitive and extremely people-focused, so much so that they are often called Velcro dogs. Most owners just say Vizsla, with the Hungarian dropped. The usual joke is that you never go to the loo alone again. They whine and chatter when excited, and many will rest a paw on you to make sure you have not forgotten them.
