About the Lhasa Apso
The Lhasa Apso is a small, sturdy dog from Tibet, originally kept in monasteries as an indoor watchdog, and that history still shows. They are alert, independent and quick to tell you when someone is at the gate. The coat is long, heavy and straight, falling to the floor if left to grow, in colours from gold and cream to grizzle and black, and many pet owners keep it in a shorter puppy clip for an easier life. Underneath the hair is a confident, sometimes stubborn little dog who is deeply loyal to its own family and politely reserved with everyone else. Owners often just say Lhasa. The usual joke is that the dog is not aloof, it is simply still deciding whether you are worth the effort.
