About the Miniature Schnauzer
Miniature Schnauzers stand around 30 to 36cm at the shoulder and weigh roughly 5 to 9kg, a square, sturdy little dog under a wiry coat that comes in salt and pepper, black and silver, or solid black. The coat does not shed much but it does need clipping or hand stripping, and owners spend a surprising amount on the beard. That beard collects water, food and garden debris, which is why so many Schnauzer people keep a towel by the door. They are vocal, watchful and quite sure they are in charge of the household. Owners often call them 'Schnauzies' and talk about the 'Schnauzer stare', the fixed look they give you when a walk is overdue. Bright, bossy, devoted.
