About the Poodle
Poodles come in three sizes, Standard, Miniature and Toy, from a Toy under 28cm up to a Standard that can stand 60cm, so the breed covers everything from handbag to hearth rug. The coat is dense, curly and keeps growing, in black, white, apricot, red, silver, brown and cream, and it needs clipping whether you choose a sporting cut or a show cut. In character they are quick, alert and very trainable, often a little too clever, with a sense of humour owners swear is deliberate. They are devoted to their people, sometimes to one person in particular, and are usually cheerful and bouncy well into old age. Owners notice the intelligence first and the grooming bill second.
